University of Virginia

The Donor Recognition Wall at the University of Virginia, designed by Amri Studio. Christina Wallach conceived the design after months of researching University of Virginia's founder Thomas Jefferson's architecture, drawings, and personal notes. Deep-carved and shaded panels unite Jefferson's drawings and University emblems with Donor Recognition names to create a classic yet contemporary design enlivened by historical details.

The important donor names are V-carved and woven directly into the artwork to truly honor those who helped build and expand the University of Virginia School of Medicine and its programs. The luminous and elegant presence of the Donor Wall forms a striking background for the teaching and conference center of the school.

The historically based architectural mounting frame and neon edge lighting was designed, fabricated and installed by Amri Studio.

Detail from a prototype for the Donor Wall: Fragment of the Declaration of Independence, drafted by Thomas Jefferson, the founder of the University of Virginia.
