Batchelor Children’s Research Institute

Miami, Florida

The major donor to this state-of-the-art research center is honored in an extraordinary Amri Studio tribute consisting of two 52-inch square panels, one atop the other. The front layer contains a superbly etched portrait of the elderly philanthropist. The back panel shows the aeronautical industry leader in his twenties as an adventurous young pilot. Innovative graphics describing his life include deep V-carved scientific textbook fonts with curved lines and technical symbols taken from pilots’ navigational charts of the Miami area. These lines continue as a unifying theme through the other major room and lab dedication signage in the building.

Winner of the American Graphic Design Award sponsored by Graphic Design: USA magazine.
