Amri Studio worked with The Portico Group to create a combination of memorial and company values plaques for an entryway and tribute room to commemorate Flying J founder and chairman O. Jay Call after his sudden death in a plane crash. Seven large deep V-carved and etched crystal panels present the guiding values of the organization along with inspirational words and images from Call’s life. A separate glass case holds artifacts from his life.
In this carved and etched crystal Tribute to inventor Charles Kettering, softly colored, programmed LEDs light up in sequence to convey a feeling of moving forward —echoing the result of Kettering’s automotive inventions and the forward-looking work of the Kettering Medical Center and Schuster Heart Hospital, where this Tribute is installed. The lighting cycle begins at the far left panel, where a small packet of light moves from left to right, leaving a glowing trail of light behind it. When the packet reaches the gearbox, it illuminates the four gears one by one, creating the impression they are rotating and meshing.
This three-panel, 10-foot-wide tribute to baseball great Buck O’Neil uses a dramatic photo collage rendered in half-inch-thick crystal to convey the energy, determination, passion, dignity and warmth of the man who made it his life’s mission to help players of color make it in the major leagues.
Commissioned to augment a life-size statue of O’Neil, the Amri Studio mural drew on photos from the Baseball Hall of Fame archives and extensive research into O’Neil’s life. The backing wall behind the panels was painted a plum color, which, when refracted through the crystal, gives the photos a sepia tone. LED edge-lighting accents the text and images.

The theme of this Major Donor Tribute is found in the scriptural quotation above, provided by the donor’s family. From it, Amri Studios created a unique spiral Tribute Wall of luminous, polished, carved, and etched crystal panels.
Overlapping images of leafy trees make the spiral a memorial grove, while also referencing the quotation. The quotation itself, rendered in eight languages is carved to varying depths in panels of half-inch-thick domestic crystal. The many different fonts used have lyrical, calligraphic, traditional and contemporary looks, appealing to young and old of every culture and tradition.
The progressive heights of the thirteen crystal panels mounted in a hardwood base form a spiral of life. The gently undulating and continuous clusters of text visually echo the rhythm of the human heart beat – and apt effect for a cardiovascular facility.
The entire spiral is LED edge-lit from top and bottom in white, warm white, subtle pale gold and pink light.

The centerpiece of this installation is an 8-foot-high, free-standing, carved crystal sculpture, partly inspired by a painting by visionary artist Alex Grey. Set in the very center of a building that is shaped like a human vertebra and has a floor plan laid out to mirror the human body, this sculpture surges upward, echoing the Miami Project's heartfelt mission and compelling logo of a person rising upright out of a wheelchair.
